Projections to 2050
Algae production worldwide has grown rapidly since 2017; Greene et al. suggest that, considering protein demands and sustainability concerns alongside limited market penetration to date, algae could contribute more than the total projected protein demand to 2050.[1]
Henchion estimates that algae could potentially replace up to one third of soybean meal in pig and poultry diets.[2]
